Rochester Regional Health - Rochester Medical Museum & Archives
About
The Rochester Medical Museum and Archives is a repository of medical archives chronicling the history of Healthcare in Rochester. This consortium includes the Baker-Cederberg Museum and Archives of the Rochester General Hospital, The Genesee Hospital Archives, and the Myers Community Hospital and Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Behavioral Health Network (Rochester Mental Health Center) Collections plus several tenant collections including: The New York State and Genesee Dietetic Associations and the Emergency Medical Services Collection. Collectively, these archival collections represent the vast array of Rochester’s Healthcare -- some nineteen collections in all.

Collections
The Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing was one of the earliest nursing schools in the United States. This collection includes class photographs and portraits of the graduates, spanning the School’s inception in the late-19th century through its closure in the mid-20th century.
Rochester Homeopathic Hospital, later known as Genesee Hospital, was an important medical facility in the Rochester region. This collection includes images of the Hospital throughout its existence.
The Rochester Homeopathic Hospital Training School, later known as the Genesee Hospital School of Nursing, was a leading medical education center in the region. This collection depicts the nursing students throughout the School’s administration from the late 19th century through late 20th century.

Collections
This collection of images documents Rochester’s 1964 race riots, offering a vivid and revealing glimpse into Rochester’s, and the nation’s, past.
The City Hall Photo Lab Contemporary Collection contains images depicting official City events and programs and documenting public works services and projects in Rochester between 1982 and 2010.
The City Hall Photo Lab Vintage Collection contains images selected from over 5,000 35mm slides made in 1984 from photographs, maps, renderings, and other graphics from Rochester’s past. Images include many aspects of City government through the years, plus general views of Rochester from the 1760’s through the 1960’s.
This collection consists of images relating to Rochester selected from the Archives’ full collection of 10,000 glass plate negatives dated 1865-1920.
This collection includes images relating to Rochester from the years 1920 to around 1960 selected from over 50,000 prints, safety negatives, nitrate negatives, and lantern slides.
This collection includes city directories from Rochester, NY, with information about the people and businesses within the city. Includes three maps of the city of Rochester.

The Rochester Public Library Local History Division Picture File Collection contains diverse images relating to Rochester’s history. The collection includes many portraits of well-known Rochesterians, in addition to images of historic buildings, city parks and other recreational facilities, Rochester industries, etc.

Rochester Museum & Science Center
About
The collections and archives at the Rochester Museum & Science Center (RMSC) consist of over 1.2 million objects reflecting the region's cultural and natural history. Public access to these collections through exhibitions, hands-on research, and online platforms furthers the mission of the RMSC to stimulate broad community interest and understanding of science and technology, and their impact – past, present, and future – on our lives. The Schuyler C. Townson Library and Strasenburgh Planetarium Library hold books and serials that cover a range of topics with specialization in fields mirroring the museum’s collections. The archives include video, audio, manuscript, ephemera, document, print, map, and photography collections. Collections of note include the Freeman C. Johnson Archives, the Howard Coles Collection, the Susan B. Anthony Collection, the Bausch Family Papers, the Danforth-Huntington Collection, the Martha Matilda Harper Collection, the Stromberg-Carlson Telephone Manufacturing Company, and the Albert R. Rochester Genealogical Society
About
The Rochester Genealogical Society began in 1938 when several people at a meeting of the Rochester Historical Society formed an informal group to preserve their family heritage. The Rochester Genealogical Society (RGS) became an independent organization in 1977. Since that time, RGS has experienced steady growth and currently has over 300 members worldwide. RGS sponsors regular educational activities, including special interest groups for DNA, technology, and writing, and encourages member-to-member support. Membership comprises people from all walks of life who freely offer help or guidance to other members whenever asked. The Church Records Preservation Committee was formed to assist churches and archives with the conservation of their non-replaceable records. The images were photographed or scanned, and the end product presents the records as they appear in their original form and order.

Rochester Civic Garden Center
About
The Rochester Civic Garden Center permanently closed in 2018.
The Rochester Civic Garden Center (RCGC) is a nonprofit horticultural education center founded in 1945 and chartered as an educational institution by the New York State Board of Regents in 1950. Over the last 70-plus years, RCGC has nourished and preserved the community’s horticultural heritage through their ever-evolving library and innovative educational programs. RCGC continues to improve the quality of life in the Genesee region of New York State by fostering knowledge, providing information, and promoting all aspects of horticulture.
In 1964, the Center moved to its present home, historic Warner Castle in Highland Park, part of the Monroe County Parks System. The park, one of four in the Parks System designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903) and dedicated in 1890, is 155 acres of both introduced and native woody plants comprising one of North America’s finest public horticultural collections. Highland Park is a fitting campus as RCGC carries forward their community educational mission. Today’s organization is comprised of three areas of expertise: Classes & Events; the Horticultural Library; and Historic Warner Castle & Estate Gardens.

RIT Libraries at the Rochester Institute of Technology is home to the Wallace Library, which provides the resources and expertise to support the curricular and scholarly pursuits of its academic community. It is also the home of the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, one of the country’s premier libraries on graphic communication, and the RIT Archive Collection, which holds a rich collection of materials documenting the history of RIT from 1829 to the present.

The William N. Weeden Color Printing Manuscript is an inventor's hand-written account in 1886 of his discovery of a printing method that produced multi-color printing with one impression. The collection includes color prints generated by the process.

The Rensselaer County Historical Society and Museum was established in 1927 to connect local history and heritage to contemporary life. We enrich the present and advocate for the future by bringing the regions past to life, recognizing every face and every story. RCHS manages and administers the largest local history library, archives and research center in Rensselaer County.
Please note, in 2019, the Rensselaer County Historical Society changed its name to the Hart Cluett Museum at Historic Rensselaer County in efforts to rebrand the institution as a more inclusive space. Though legally still known as the Rensselaer County Historical Society, the organization is DBA the Hart Cluett Museum.

Remsen Steuben Historical Society
About
The society maintains and preserves historical items, photos and documentation from Remsen and the surrounding area. The society is housed in the historic Stone Church or Capel Cerrig on Prospect Street, which is listed on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places and includes one of the largest Welsh libraries in America. Stone Church is one of four Welsh chapels remaining in the Remsen-Steuben area, which at one time held scores of Welsh churches of various denominations.
Welsh immigration to the Remsen/Steuben area began over two hundred years ago in 1795 with fifteen families and continued well into the twentieth century. During that time, Remsen held a pre-eminent role in Welsh immigration to the United States. Remsen continues to embrace and celebrate its Welsh heritage and is part of a unique project which is being carried out by the Remsen Development Corporation. ‘Ty Gwaith Crefft' will celebrate, interpret, and promote Remsen's proud and self-sufficient Welsh heritage and cultural origins.

The mission of the Reher Center for Immigrant Culture and History is to preserve and present stories with universal appeal about immigration, community, work and
bread. It uses its historic bakery building in Kingston’s Rondout neighborhood to forge emotional connections among all peoples through tours and programs.

Oral history interviews that document the immigrant experiences of Hudson Valley residents and their families.
This collection includes items belonging to the Reher family as well as artifacts that were recovered during an archeological dig near their building.
