Albion W. Tourgee (1838 - 1905) was a Civil War veteran, politician, and lawyer. He played a pivotal role in the Plessy v. Ferguson case and was a pioneering civil rights activist. This collection includes his correspondence, as well as legal documents, articles, and photographs.

Images from the Broome County Poor Farm located in Dickinson, also referred to as the Broome County Almshouse.  It opened in 1833 and closed in the 1960s.

In the late 1980s, New York State considered Cortland County for a new low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) dump.  Local residents protested and ultimately, there was no dump.
