Bayport-Blue Point Public Library
About
Founded in 1938 as a Blue Point P.T.A. project, the Blue Point Public Library began with a collection of donated books. Tradition has it that these books were gathered by wheelbarrow from the home of local residents (hence our logo). The library's first home was a small room in the Blue Point School. Later sites included part of the building now occupied by the Blue Point Liquor Store, a small house on the corner of Madison Street, now replaced by the dentist's office, and the Bennett House on Blue Point Avenue.
In 1957, a new building was constructed directly behind Bennett house, which was subsequently torn down. (Oddly enough, there was a hot debate as to whether the new building should face Blue Point Avenue or Madison Street. Now, 33 years later, we have entrances on both streets.) The present building, the result of two additions, is nearly three times the size of the 1957 building.
When the Bayport and Blue Point school districts joined forces in 1952, the library became the Bayport-Blue Point Public Library. Until 1970, the library was staffed entirely by volunteers, one of the last all-volunteer libraries in the state.

Baldwinsville Public Library
About
In the fall of 1946, the Baldwinsville Travelers Club formed a library committee to investigate establishing a library in the village. The library opened its doors for the first time on January 6, 1948, in two rooms of the old trolley station that served as the Lysander Town Building. As the Baldwinsville community grew so did the need for a larger facility. In 1956 the library moved to a renovated house. In 1974 the library was rechartered as a school district public library. The library then moved into an old Woolworth’s store in 1975. On October 29, 1994 the community gathered at the library with shovels in hand. Commemorative bookmarks and ribbons were tied to the shovels. “Shovels on Parade” proceeded to the site of a new building for the library. Following a few words of greeting, those gathered used their shovels to turn over the dirt. One year to the day, on October 29, 1995, over 2,500 people participated in the Grand Opening of the new library.
In addition to providing informational and recreational materials in a variety of formats the library has an art gallery and a local history room. The art gallery features local professional and amateur artists. The local history collection contains historical and genealogical information about Baldwinsville, Clay, Lysander, and Van Buren. It is continually being enhanced by donations of materials unique to the Baldwinsville Community.
The library board and staff continually assess library services in order to provide community residents with activities which support their pursuit of personal, educational, and professional interests, as well as cultural, recreational, and leisure activities.

Antique Boat Museum
About
In the 1960’s a small nucleus of people who were determined to preserve the nautical and cultural heritage of the St. Lawrence River established the 1000 Islands Museum on the St. Lawrence River in Clayton, NY. Within the museum, a group concerned with preserving the area’s rich boating heritage formed the Antique Boat Auxiliary and organized a show of antique boats in 1965.The boat show became an annual event and grew steadily in size. Under the auspices of the Antique Boat Auxiliary, a small group of supporters acquired several parcels of waterfront property in the early 1970s and established a permanent museum to host the annual boat show. The new institution received a provisional charter from the NY State Department of Education as the 1000 Islands Shipyard Museum in 1980 and was granted an absolute charter in 1986. A 1990 amendment to the charter changed the institution’s name to the Antique Boat Museum.
In the 40 years since its founding the Museum has built up a substantial waterfront campus that encompasses 4.5 acres of public program space, 1900′ of dockage and 1300′ of St. Lawrence River shoreline. The 10 buildings on the campus contain 29,000 square feet of exhibit space and 33,000 square feet of public program, collections storage, archives, library and administration space. The exhibits and programs are supported by 20,000 square feet of boat collection storage located a short distance from the Museum’s main campus. In the last decade the Museum has undertaken a substantial capital expansion program to consolidate its real estate holdings and construct buildings and infrastructure worthy of its collection and programs. From humble beginnings as a riverside gathering of antique boat enthusiasts, the Antique Boat Museum has evolved into a national institution which makes substantial economic and cultural contributions to Clayton, the North Country region and the preservation of North America’s maritime heritage.
Antique Boat Museum is a member of the Northern New York Library Network.
