About
Canastota Public Library, a beautiful Carnegie library located 30 miles east of Syracuse, hosts a great local history collection. Their collection includes contributed genealogies and family histories, especially of Italian families who settled in Canastota. Their materials on New York Heritage are mainly from the first half of the 20th century and reflect a vibrant trading town on the Erie Canal.
Canastota Public Library is a member of the Central New York Library Resources Council.
Collections

The Canastota Schools Collection contains school souvenirs, including programs, newsletters and photos of Canastota students in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

The Early Canastota Business Collection contains documents and newspaper clippings about the first businesses in Canastota, NY.

The Early Canastota Collection contains photos, clippings, and documents that describe Canastota in the nineteenth century and early twentieth century.

The Lenox Memorial Hospital Collection contains documents and newspaper clippings about the hospital that served the area in the early to mid-twentieth century.
