This collection contains race track photographs and photo finishes mostly captured by prominent thoroughbred racing photographer Bert Morgan between 1943 to 1957. Part of the Phipps Family Photographs Collection, these images document winning horse races of the era, some of which feature Phipps—an influential figure in the equestrian community and an avid polo player—alongside his own winning racehorses.
The images feature highly detailed information inscribed on or alongside the prints, including horse names, jockeys, trainers, specific race tracks, and geographical locations.
Digitized in 2023, this collection was uploaded to New York Heritage in 2026 through Old Westbury Gardens’ partnership with the LILRC Accessing Archives Program.
