About
The mission of the Archives & Special Collections Department (A&SC) of the Daniel A. Reed Library at the State University of New York at Fredonia is to collect, organize, preserve, provide access to and encourage scholarly engagement with a variety of unique manuscript and archival materials in primary support of the scholarship needs of both the academic community at Fredonia and researchers around the world. The A&SC provides a vital function in enhancing Fredonia’s reputation as a center for excellence in scholarship by working with faculty to integrate the use of unique manuscript and archival materials into the curriculum. To that end, the A&SC, in support of the overall mission of the university, embraces the initiatives to educate, challenge and inspire students, encouraging their development as skilled, connected, creative and responsible global citizens.
SUNY at Fredonia - Daniel A. Reed Library is a member of the Western New York Library Resources Council.
Collections

This is a collection of 32 directories representing various regions of Chautauqua County, New York, with many featuring directory listings for businesses as well as residents along with advertisements for local businesses and services, city and area maps, and other historically relevant information.

A collection of 20 digitized reels of microfilmed primary source materials relating to the history and early years of the Holland Land Company, with a focus on materials detailing the history and development of Western New York. The original materials are held by the Gemeentelijke Archiefdienst van Amsterdam (Municipal Archives of Amsterdam) and were microfilmed as a part of the Holland Land Company Project.

A collection of late 18th century and early 19th century maps, particularly of Western New York and Pennsylvania, created for the Holland Land Company.

The Normal Leader Archives collection is derived from 20 bound volumes of The Normal Leader, the newspaper for students of the Fredonia Normal School, covering student life and literary efforts for the years 1893 - 1922 over 191 individual issues.
