The 2019 Exhibition at La Casita to commemorate Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month featured a series of paintings, photography, and site-specific installations that examine urban culture, life in the barrios, street art and graffiti. The project also had a strong focus on discussions about urban culture in music including hip-hop and reggaeton.
The exhibit showcased more than 60 pieces including paintings by Syracuse-based artist Bennie Guzman; a newly completed mural (14 x 5 ft) by a group of teens from the Westside community, directed by Bennie Guzman, and photography by the Point of Contact Gallery's youth program -El Punto Art Studio- under the direction of Marilu Lopez Fretts.
