The area around Tupper Lake was first settled in 1844, and since very soon thereafter it has served as a major lumber producer in New York State.
Scope of Collection
This series documents the various forms of infrastructure over Tupper Lake since approximately 1860 to the present day. This includes structures such as bridges, roads, signs, water towers, dams, reservoirs, pipelines, post offices, electrical and treatment plants, and cemeteries. It also includes organizations that build various forms of infrastructure including municipal construction workers and the Civilian Conservation Corps.
