Scope of Collection

This collection contains pictures from the Dongan Charter Celebration Parade held in Albany, New York on July 22, 1936. The parade was to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the city’s charter. The Dongan Charter, granted by Governor Thomas Dongan in 1686, turned the village Albany (New York) into a city.
