The area around Tupper Lake was first settled in 1844, and since very soon thereafter it has served as a major lumber producer in New York State.

Scope of Collection

This series includes a great number of photographs of various citizens from approximately 1860 to 2010. Photos include candid pictures of individuals, group shots at various events including birthdays, family gatherings and reunions, anniversaries, and weddings. In addition, this series also includes school portraits, professional headshots, photos of children, and well-known Tupper Lake residents including the Ginsberg, Moody, and Chaney-Goff families.
