About
Since 1940, the Central New York Chapter, NRHS, has been preserving railroad heritage and offering numerous events and programs to promote the railroad industry and its history. The Chapter operates restored railroad station museums at Martisco and Central Square, NY, and a display of historic equipment at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. A new Chapter library was opened at the Martisco Station Museum in 2011. A program is offered every third Wednesday except July and August for Chapter members. The Chapter also has special interest groups in model railroading and photography. The Chapter also publishes a monthly newsletter for members, and has released several books on Central New York railroading themes.
A catalog of the chapter's book collection is available via Librarika.
CNY Chapter National Railway Historical Society is a member of the Central New York Library Resources Council.
Collections

This collection documents the activities of the CNY Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, including views of the station museum restorations at Martisco and Central Square; the restoration and operation of locomotives and rolling stock; and Chapter-sponsored "Great New York State Model Train Fair."

These photographs of railways were taken by Phillip Winchester, a division engineer for the New York Central Railroad based in Syracuse.

The collection provides pictorial information showing locomotives and rolling stock of railroads that once served New York State and adjacent states and provinces.
