About

The Mineola Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history of our village. The Society is a non-profit voluntary association. Founded in 1988 by Mrs. Ethel K. Ketcham and Sophia Martins, with the avowed purpose of "discovering, collecting, preserving and publishing" matters of local history.  We are a repository for many Mineola pictures, books, articles and memorabilia.

The charter members of the historical society were Ethel Ketcham, Sophia Martins, Betty Conlon, Irma Bennett, Nancy Schwarz, Jack Hehman, Martha Dornemann, Betty Dreyhaupt, Bessie Vogel, Mary Montoux, Emma Herb, Mary Ann Farmer, George Farmer, Florence Fiala, Edgar Fiala, Malcolm Todd, and Anna Spahr

The first officers elected by the historical society were Jack Hehman (President), John Schaub (Vice President), Betty Conlon (Secretary), Mary Montoux (Treasurer), Ethel Ketcham (Membership).

The first trustees of the historical society were John Davanzo, Leroy Barrocca, Ann Galante, William Gerstner, Anthony Palma, and Shirley Randall.

Mineola Historical Society is a member of the Long Island Library Resources Council.
