About
The Garden City Public Library is the repository for the physical Archives of the Village of Garden City, New York. Located here are the historical photographs related to the Village, most of which have been digitized for our online collection. Also included in the Archives are many articles, maps, manuscripts, and scrapbooks that complement the photographs.
Associated with the Archives is the Alexander Turney Stewart Room in the Library, named after the founder of Garden City in 1869. Here are located books related to the Village and to Long Island in general. A set of local telephone directories dating from 1931 is often useful in Village research. Microfilms of the Village weekly newspaper The Garden City News dating from 1927 are also available.
Garden City Public Library is a member of the Long Island Library Resources Council.
