Historical Context

The Jewish Buffalo Archives Project (JBAP) collects and preserves documentation relating to the diverse histories, religious traditions and cultures of Jewish communities within the Greater Buffalo and Niagara area of Western New York.

Scope of Collection

This collection consists of photographs and other images related to Jewish life in Buffalo and the Niagara Falls area taken from the Jewish Buffalo Archives at the University at Buffalo. The collection was developed as part of the Jewish Buffalo Archives Project, a collaborative initiative of the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Buffalo and the University Archives in the University Libraries of the University at Buffalo. Images from the 19th century through the 21st century are included in this collection.The bulk of the collection is from the mid-20th century.
