Historical Context

In 1940, Islip High School issued its first yearbook, sponsored by the Beta Sigma Phi fraternity. Under the leadership of Principle Earl B. Robinson, the main objective to this project was to get as many students as possible to participate in its production. In the contest for the name of the yearbook, over one hundred names were suggested. The honor went to Stanley Smith, a junior high student, who submitted the name, “Secatogue.”

Scope of Collection

The Secatogue is the annual yearbook of Islip High School in Islip, New York. Recent yearbooks are not available online but, are available at the Islip Public Library in the Local History room.
