Historical Context

World War II was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. The war came to an end in Europe when Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945. Japan surrendered later that year, with formal surrender documents signed on September 2, 1945. 

Scope of Collection

This collection of photographs documents an entire parade held to celebrate the end of WWII in 1945. Included are images of parade floats, storefronts, and participants in the parade. Many of the floats are from local organizations and businesses who participated in the war effort.
