This collection was donated to the library by John Conklin Jr., the photographer’s son. It documents four decades of special events held by the Sayville Kiwanis Club and Sayville Yacht Club including holiday parties, ceremonies, and picnics, as well as boating activities of the yacht club.
Scope of Collection
The collection consists of over 1000 images, mostly slides, taken by former Sayville resident, John A. Conklin, from the late 1950s to the late 1990s. Included in the collection are photographic slides of people and events for the community organizations Sayville Kiwanis Club (from the years 1960 to 1982), and the Sayville Yacht Club (from the years 1957 to 1999, not including 1962-1965, 1974-1982, 1987, 1990, 1997). Included also are some photographic prints of places in Sayville, dates unknown.
