Historical Context

Known as the “The City that Lights and Hauls the World,” Schenectady was home to both the American Locomotive Company and the Edison Electric Company, which is now General Electric. GE and ALCO partnered up to create diesel locomotives. Since then, GE has helped create jobs in the Schenectady area with its renewable energy center.
