Historical Context

The Christian Investigator was a monthly newspaper published and edited by William Goodell between 1841 and 1848. Originally it was published in Whitesboro, New York, but later moved to Honeoye, New York. William Goodell helped organize the American Anti-Slavery Society, and was very active in the anti-slavery movement, as well as the temperance movement.
