Scope of Collection

This collection highlights Black history in Columbia County, N.Y. It includes many photographic portraits from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The collection also contains memorabilia from the Wide-Awakes club, a political organization started in 1860 that opposed the spread of slavery to U.S. territories and new states.
