Historical Context

Asharoken is an isthmus connecting the Village of Northport to Eaton's Neck and lies between Northport Harbor to the south and the Long Island Sound to the north.  In 1925, Asharoken was incorporated as a village.

The Village of Asharoken is named after Chief Asharoken, head of the Matinecock Native American tribe which inhabited the area prior to English settlements. Chief Asharoken sold the land to three Englishmen in 1656.

Asharoken Village is located in the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County, on the North Shore of Long Island in New York.
