Items in New York Heritage are organized into collections, which provide additional context for understanding their significance and meaning.

Scrapbooks containing meeting minutes, programs, brochures, newspaper clippings and photographs concerning a late 19th and early 20th century women’s suffrage organization in Ithaca, New York. Some materials reference New York State and national suffrage matters.
The Proceedings provide a record of land disposed or acquired by the State of New York, including lands for New York’s canal system.
The Proceedings of the Rochester Academy of Science include original papers relating to the natural history of western New York State and biographical articles on the scientists who contributed to knowledge within this field. The abstracts of papers and posters presented at the annual Scientific Paper Session are included in issues as well. Topics range from the glaciology of the area, the water levels of Lake Ontario, to the flora of Bergen Swamp and Mendon Ponds Park. The Proceedings have been published on an irregular schedule since 1890.
This collection contains historic images, postcards, and documents from across Putnam County.
The collection provides pictorial information showing locomotives and rolling stock of railroads that once served New York State and adjacent states and provinces.
