Items in New York Heritage are organized into collections, which provide additional context for understanding their significance and meaning.

The collection features text documents highlighting the history of General Electric and its founders.
The collection contains original articles written by Crouse Hospital physicians and public health workers, advertisements, and medical & surgical statistical information.
A collection of postcards showing the laboratories and workshops of Clarkson College from the early 20th century
The Proceedings of the Rochester Academy of Science include original papers relating to the natural history of western New York State and biographical articles on the scientists who contributed to knowledge within this field. The abstracts of papers and posters presented at the annual Scientific Paper Session are included in issues as well. Topics range from the glaciology of the area, the water levels of Lake Ontario, to the flora of Bergen Swamp and Mendon Ponds Park. The Proceedings have been published on an irregular schedule since 1890.
Dudley launched probes and balloons into the upper atmosphere in order to collect and examine the micro-meteorites to be found there. This collection contains documentation from this process.
