This is a collection of WIVB-TV videotape segments drawn from the first 1977 Umatic tapes in the WIVB-TV archive. This was the station’s earliest conversion from film to videotape for gathering news. The segments deal primarily with economic, political and featured segments produced by the Buffalo New York television station WIVB-TV (formerly WBEN-TV) in 1977. They document the massive layoffs at the Bethlehem Steel Plant in Lackawanna, New York, and the Buffalo mayoral race of 1977. Some of the other subjects represented are more feature oriented, including celebrity visits and recreational attractions in the Buffalo area.
The Women of Fayetteville collection comprises images of Fayetteville women and their activities dating back to the 19th century.
