Personal friend and secretary to NYS Governor Grover Cleveland. After Cleveland was elected President of the United States, Lamont was appointed his Secretary of War and close confidant.
The Sherwood Collection is mainly comprised of letters to and from Samuel Sherwood (1779-1862), his second wife Laura Bostwick Sherwood (1790-1863), and members of their family.
This collection contains several artifacts from the Robert L. Brown History of Medicine Collection, University at Buffalo, that highlight the life of Dr. Austin Flint. A renowned physician, Flint was one of the founding members of the University at Buffalo Medical School.
