Historical Context

Harvey Ginsberg, a semi-retired book editor who splits his time between an apartment in Greenwich Village and his house of 25 years on Squires Path in East Hampton, amassed a collection of historic postcards of East Hampton from travelling all over the country to various postcard conventions.

Mr. Ginsberg said that he presented the valuable collection so that East Hamptoners could see how their town looked before the invasion of pricey restaurants, fashionable boutiques, and cell phone-wielding pedestrians.

Scope of Collection

The collection consists of over 700 historic postcards featuring various street views, businesses, churches, mills, railroads, and natural features of East Hampton from the early 20th Century.
